Israel Bombs and Invades Lebanon, Kills Over 1,000 in First Three Weeks

Shortly after the U.S. and Israel initiated their war on Iran, Lebanon-based Iranian ally Hezbollah fired rockets at northern Israel. Since March 2, Israel has mounted a massive offensive, bombing Lebanon’s capital city of Beirut, killing over 1,000 people in the first three weeks, displacing nearly one million people, and again invading the country across its southern border.

According to American news outlet Axios, a senior Israeli official said, “We are going to do what we did in Gaza,” referring to bombing buildings in heavily populated areas, alleging that Hezbollah uses those buildings.

The recent consensus in Israel was that Hezbollah had been largely incapacitated by the Israeli military from 2023 to 2025, but the group has shown it is more resilient than many thought.
